The domestic water distribution for Cedar Rapids became compromised since all, but one of the wells became flooded. Local officials enforced water usage restrictions, however, the effort to place sandbags around the one remaining well kept it fully operational throughout the flood.
Rebuilding Efforts for Iowa’s Flood Last Several Years
On the 3rd anniversary of the flood in 2011, the people of Cedar Rapids were still rebuilding from the biggest flood to hit the area. The river levels reached a crest of 31.12 feet on June 13, 2008, 12 ft. is the height that determines a flood.
